Electron Microscopy
|
- Training on handling and preparation of specimen, operation
and maintenance of SEM and TEM and other associated instruments in
the laboratory is also extended to the extent that the incumbent
after the training can operate similar facilities independently at
their organization.

Herbarium
|
- The Herbarium serves as a source/ centre for basic information
on correct identity, nomenclature, distribution, diversity,
abundance, uses and other related data about various taxa.
The scientists attached to NBRI Herbarium (LWG) may offer a
variety of consultancy services to professionals from various
walks and industries, mostly the plant-based ones. The services
include providing first-hand information on the identity and
diversity assessments on the species of interest, economic
utility, wild relatives of cultivated species, nativity and status
of species, medicinal plants, herbal drugs used by tribals, etc.

Library
|
- Holding of the Library Books, Bound periodicals, Current
periodicals, FAO books, Rare books, Archival materials, Patents,
Reports and Reprints of NBRI Scientists. Every year 324
periodicals on botany and applied botany are subscribed.
Acquisition of periodicals and books, circulation of reading
materials and serial control are the main function of the library.
- Services like CAS, Computerized Literature Search,
Reprography, Inter-library loan are some of the secondary
services. The facility of access of 3300 journals through various
online databases is available. CDROM on Biological Abstracts and
access to Biological Abstracts online is also available.

Microbiology
|
- Expertise to bioinnoculant manufacturers in the following four
projects:
- Setting up the manufacturing unit for bionoculant
production.
- Cost effective measures for the reduction in the cost of
production batches for phosphate solubilisers and production of
Rhizobium
- More defined and pragmatic R & D programmes are put in place for
the continuous improvement of the existing products.
- Programmes are put in place for launching new products for
capturing wider range of agro-based industry e.g., biofungicides.
- Identification of plant beneficial native stress-tolerant
nitrogen fixing and phosphate solubilising bacteria and
development of stress tolerant transgenic bacteria and plants to
enhance plant growth in degraded ecosystems.
