Objectives
 
Development of new and novel ornamental varieties in Asiatic Lily, Bougainvillea, Chrysanthemum, Dahlia, Gerbera, Gladiolus, Hibiscus, Lantana depressa, Rose, Marigold, Tuberose, etc. through conventional breeding, induced Mutation and tissue culture.
 
 
Achievements
 
  1. Products of dehydrated flowers and leaves are available for sale in the forms of greeting cards, wall plates, landscape, 3-dimensional flower arrangement etc.
     
  2. New varieties of different ornamentals have been released for commercial use.
     
  3. Techniques have been developed for dehydration of flowers and foliage.
     
  4. Tissue culture technique for direct regeneration from florets of chrysanthemum has been standardized for management of chimera.
     
  5. 150 research papers have been published, 2 Book, 8 Bulletins.
     
  6. Build up germplasm center for chrysanthemum.
     
  7. Standardized agro technology for various ornamentals
     
  8. Development of awareness among the Rural women about dehydration of flowers and floral craft and commercial floriculture.
     
  9. U.S. Patent No. PP13678 was granted to mini chrysanthemum cultivator 'Mother Teresa' on 25th March 2003.
